Our adventures began with Bumblebee (see below) and now continue with Dragonfly..

Dragonfly is our second sailing boat, a navy blue hulled, teak decked, Jeaneau Sun Odyssey 49 DS from 2006.  After ten years of owning Bumblebee and with our daughter and son Jozefina and Theodore now joining us for the ride we have sadly out-grown her.  Many years ago we moored up next to a Sun Odyssey 49 and had a strong impression even then that this would be our next boat.  Being closely related to Beneteau, there are many familiar fixtures and fitting. Also a similar vintage so the build quality is superior to recent production yachts.  What we benefit from now is the space for our family and a couple of guests, in-mast furling, electric winches, air conditioning, bow thruster, pneumatic passarelle, water maker, generator, inverter, solar, chain counter, and the list goes on! We have also refitted her with a full suite of B&G electronics and all new standing and running rigging.

Dragonfly is 14.9 metres long -handy as the cut off for many marinas' pricing bands is 15m.  She can sleep 8 people at a squeeze but is comfortable for 6. We opened up the rear cabins into one extra large family room and let guests take the forward cabin.  Below is a lidar scan of the interior from our second visit -starting to make a boat a home :)

Bumblebee is now for sale.  Stand by to meet Dragonfly..

Bumblebee

Bumblebee is what many would call an AWB -an Average White Boat.  True there are 600 almost identical sister ships out there but to us she is special and unique.  She is a 2002 Beneteau Oceanis 393, stack pack rigged, never chartered, 39 foot long with the 'owners' two cabin layout.  There are benefits to owning such a popular design, she is very easy to sail, has generous accommodation and can be found in most marinas around the world -useful when tackling repairs or improvements.
